Rental Terms & Conditions

Overview

At Amsterdam Cycling Hub (Concourse Zuid), we use clear and transparent terms so you can rent a road bike without any surprises. By renting a bike, you agree to the rental terms and conditions below.

1. Reservation & Payment

  • Reservations are confirmed by email.

  • Payment must be made in advance.

  • Cancellation is free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the rental period. For cancellations made within 48 hours, 50% of the rental fee will be charged.

  • No insurance is included in the rental price.

2. Identification & Age

  • The renter must present a valid form of identification when collecting the bike.

  • Bikes are rented exclusively to persons aged 18 or older, or to persons who are legally authorized to enter into a rental agreement.

3. Security Deposit

  • A security deposit of €500 is required for each rental.

  • The deposit will be refunded within 48 hours after the bike is returned, provided that the bike and any accessories are returned in the same condition as when they were provided.

  • Amsterdam Cycling Hub reserves the right to retain all or part of the deposit in the event of damage, loss, theft, or violation of these terms and conditions.

  • Any costs exceeding the amount of the deposit will be charged separately.

4. Use of the Bike

  • The bike may only be used on paved roads.

  • Use during competitions, criteriums, organized races, or similar events is not permitted.

  • Use of the bike while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substances that may impair the ability to ride safely is not permitted.

  • The renter is responsible for the correct adjustment of the saddle, handlebars, and pedals.

  • The renter must take proper care of the bike and comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulations.

  • The bike may not be lent to or used by third parties without prior permission from Amsterdam Cycling Hub.

5. Storage & Security

  • The renter is responsible for storing the bike safely and locking it properly whenever it is left unattended.

  • The bike must never be left unattended without using an approved lock, if a lock has been provided.

  • Amsterdam Cycling Hub strongly recommends storing the bike indoors or in another secure location whenever possible.

6. Damage, Loss & Theft

  • The renter is liable for all damage to the bike and any supplied accessories, including damage caused by crashes, impacts, transportation, or cosmetic damage.

  • Accessories include, but are not limited to, pedals, wheels, bike computer mounts, saddle bags, pumps, and other supplied components.

  • Damage will be assessed by Amsterdam Cycling Hub based on repair or replacement costs.

  • In the event of theft, loss, or a missing bike, the renter must contact Amsterdam Cycling Hub immediately and, where necessary, report the incident to the police.

  • In the event of theft, Amsterdam Cycling Hub may request a police report, keys, and/or other relevant information.

  • In the event of theft or a total loss, the full replacement value of the bike and any accessories will be charged.

  • Damage and associated costs will be deducted from the security deposit. Any additional costs exceeding the deposit will be charged to the renter.

7. Maintenance & Repairs

  • The renter may only patch or replace an inner tube.

  • In the event of technical problems, a breakdown, or defects, the renter must immediately contact Amsterdam Cycling Hub (Concourse Zuid).

  • Repairs or adjustments by third parties are only permitted with prior approval from Amsterdam Cycling Hub.

  • Any damage or defects resulting from improper use or unauthorized repairs are entirely at the renter’s expense.

  • Amsterdam Cycling Hub reserves the right to provide an equivalent replacement bike or cancel the rental if the reserved bike is unavailable due to a technical defect or circumstances beyond our control.

8. Collection & Return

  • The bike may be inspected upon collection and return, and its condition and any existing damage may be recorded.

  • The bike must be returned no later than the agreed date and at the agreed time.

  • Late returns may result in additional charges. Amsterdam Cycling Hub reserves the right to charge additional rental fees if the agreed rental period is exceeded.

  • The bike must be returned clean.

  • Excessive dirt includes mud, sand, road salt, or other contamination requiring additional cleaning.

  • A €25 cleaning fee will be charged if the bike is returned excessively dirty.

9. Personal Data

  • Personal data will only be used for the execution and administration of the rental agreement and will not be shared with third parties unless required by law.

10. Liability

  • Amsterdam Cycling Hub is not liable for accidents, personal injury, consequential damages, or damage to the renter’s personal belongings.

  • The renter remains responsible at all times for riding safely and for their own actions while using the bike.

  • Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended.

11. Governing Law

  • All rental agreements and rental terms and conditions of Amsterdam Cycling Hub are governed by Dutch law.

  • Any disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
